This winter I was put to work on a brand new project for Belling, the brand behind a wide range of cooking appliances and specialist Range Cookers. Belling understand that in the 21st Centenary it can be difficult for families to all eat together, with growing numbers of us eating ‘specialised diets’ or simply avoiding certain foods.
Belling Multi Meal Households Campaign:
This was the trigger for a new campaign by Belling, all about ‘Multi Meal Households’. The ‘Multi Meal Households’ concept was all about helping to support families with their cooking whilst catering for different dietary needs and requirements. Basically, Belling wanted to create a collection of recipes with different variations to easily accommodate multiple diets with minimal fuss. That’s where I came in…
As a Registered Nutritionist who understands the importance of dietary needs, I was asked to compile some recipes that covered different eating behaviours such as: Gluten Free, Low Fat, Reduced Sugar, Dairy Free, Vegan and Vegetarian. However, my real challenge was to try and make the variations as similar as possible to standard or original recipes, to avoid too much in the way of cooking adaptations. I was incredibly pleased that Belling asked for me, as a Registered Nutritionist, to bring these recipes together, as it’s important when discussing ‘free-from’ diets that people understand when you take something out of a diet, say meat for example, you have to replace that meat with a substitute (such as lentils, beans or Quorn) that will provide a similar array of nutrients, to avoid a risk of becoming deficient. Therefore, I set to work creating some healthy, balanced and delicious recipes for Belling and their new 2017 campaign.
You can read more from Belling about their ‘Multi-Meal Households’ campaign here and see the recipes on this website too.
Free-From Recipes from Charlotte:
I created alternative recipes for Belling that included –
Gluten Free
Reduced Sugar
Vegan
Dairy Free
Vegetarian
Lower fat….as well as providing all standard or ‘original’ recipe options too.
Here is a sample of the recipes I provided in pictures:

I really enjoyed cooking all of these varieties and it was great to know there are so many options for people with specific dietary needs. Please do let me know if you try any and what you think.
