A while ago I found out about a new technology from @keepmefreshUK called Berry Breeze.
As a huge advocate for reducing food waste I was really interested in this product as it claims to reduce food waste by keeping foods in your fridge fresher for longer.
The Berry Breeze uses “activated oxygen” which the company refers to as “O3” to kill bacteria and fungus in your fridge and also to eliminate oders.
A statement on the Berry Breeze website explains the science behind how O3 works:
“O3 breaks down complex molecular structures to their safe original elements. It oxidizes many organic and synthetic compounds, detergents, herbicides, and pesticides. It also oxidizes inorganics such as iron, manganese, heavy metals, cyanide, sulfides, and nitrites in water. By destroying ethylene gas, it slows down the decay process, destroying the odor produced by decay. It is also the most effective natural bactericide of all the readily-available disinfectant agents.”

My feedback on the Berry Breeze:
After taking a long time to get it set up (it requires buying 4 x D batteries, which are the huge ones!) it was incredibly simple to work. Pop the batteries in and replace the lid and the machine does the rest of the work for you.
It’s actually very hard to tell if food lasts longer in my fridge due to the Berry Breeze, because we eat fresh foods every day and very rarely let foods go off.
Of course the Berry Breeze doesn’t completely stop foods from rotting and so you still find the odd squashed carrot rotting away in the back of the fridge but in general I do feel that my fridge feels and certainly smells fresher.
The Berry Breeze also lasts a long time and so, apart from replacing the batteries, it’s not something that will cost you money regularly.
Overall I was impressed with Berry Breeze but would be really interested in anyone else who has used it and found it really helps with reducing food waste and keeping foods fresher for longer…
