These 3 ingredient no bake Weetabix energy balls are a simple, no-bake snack for toddlers and young children that I’ve been making on repeat lately.
Made with just bananas, Weetabix and peanut butter (or other nut/seed butter), these no-bake energy balls provide healthy fats, fibre, iron and protein. They are delicious on their own or paired with yoghurt (or plant-based yoghurt) and veg sticks for a more balanced snack.
They come together in under 5 minutes and, unlike many energy ball recipes, you don’t need a food processor – just a bowl and a fork. I also love rolling them in different coatings, so I’ve shared 10 of my favourite options below.
They’re also easy to adapt depending on what you have at home, whether you’re using a nut or seed butter, and you can vary the coatings to keep things interesting for little ones.
Makes 8-10 Weetabix energy balls
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 5 weetabix (you can use own brand equivalent)
- 1 tbsp peanut butter (or another nut butter such as almond or cashew), or seed butter for a nut-free option
Optional coatings
Adding coatings is a simple way to create variety and introduce new textures for toddlers. Here are 10 ideas to mix and match depending on what you have at home:
- Desiccated coconut*
- My sprinkles (recipe available in my book The Ultimate Weaning & Toddler Cookbook – it is a mix of ground seeds, nuts and dried fruit)
- Finely grated dark chocolate
- Ground almonds
- Finely ground seeds (e.g. pumpkin or sunflower)
- Crushed freeze-dried fruit (strawberries or raspberries work well)
- Cinnamon or a light dusting of mixed spice
- Very finely chopped soft dried fruit (e.g. apricots or raisins)
- Oat flour (blended oats)
- Finely crushed plain cereal
*Avoid for younger babies as the texture can be very tricky for little babies
Method
- Mash the bananas in a bowl until smooth.
- Crush the Weetabix and add to the mashed banana.
- Stir through the nut or seed butter until well combined.
- Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls.
- Roll in your chosen coatings (if using).

Storage tips
Store these Weetabix energy balls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2–3 days. They can also be made ahead for quick snacks throughout the week.
