No Yeast Easy Pizza Recipe
We LOVE making pizza in this house! The toppings are just so versatile, and they can make a really good balanced meal all in one. They’re also a fun activity to do with your kids or for the whole family. I always fall back on my Pitta Pizza Recipe or my Pizza Wraps, but this one is a little more creative! The lovely Dr Pippa Gibson has created this quick and easy ‘no yeast pizza’ recipe which can be on the table in under 30 minutes!
It has no added salt to the pizza sauce or base making it perfect for little ones, including babies. It’s also a great way to get children learning about foods and cooking, letting them help knead and roll the dough and then choosing and adding their own toppings. It’s also a great way to let children explore different veggies as pizza toppings too.
Serve a portion with a side salad for adults and toddlers or as a slices of pizza as finger food for babies. For younger babies without teeth, it might be best to offer the pizza with cheddar, instead of mozzarella or a less stringy cheese.
Enjoy!
Makes 2 pizzas
Ingredients
- For the sauce
- ½ tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- ¼ tsp dried herbs
- 200g tinned tomatoes
For the pizza base
- 100g self-raising flour*
- 100g wholemeal flour*
- ¾ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 200g natural yoghurt
Toppings
- 1 ball mozzarella (or any other cheese)
- Any other toppings of choice (think sliced veggies, ham, egg, olives, pineapple, spinach, tuna – you name it!)
Method
- Preheat two baking trays in the oven set to maximum.
- Add the oil, tomato puree, herbs and tinned tomatoes to a saucepan and allow to gently simmer while you make the base (around 5-8 minutes).
- Meanwhile, mix the flours, baking powder, olive oil and yoghurt together to make a dough. Knead for 2 minutes. If the dough is dry add a little water, or if the dough is wet add a little extra flour.
- Divide the dough into two and roll out to the thickness of a pound coin using a little extra flour to stop it from sticking. Place on a piece of baking parchment.
- Take half the tomato sauce and spread it on the base, leaving a 1cm wide boarder around the edge.
- Take half the mozzarella, roughly tear and place around the tomato sauce, again keeping clear of the edge. Option to add extra toppings here.
- Repeat with the second ball of dough.
- Place on the preheated baking sheets and reduce the temperature to 220°C fan/ 230°C convection and bake for 8-10 minutes till the edges are golden brown and the cheeses is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and serve.
*You can use only self-raising flour, just reduce the baking powder to ¼ tsp, or use only wholemeal flour and increase baking powder to 1tsp.
