Only 4 Ingredients!
I absolutely love creating new cracker recipes, and because cheese crackers are such a popular choice with little ones, I wanted to put together a simple no added sugar version that could work as a base for a balanced snack. So these easy toddler friendly almond cheese crackers really do hit the spot!
These easy four-ingredient almond cheese crackers come together in minutes, bake in under 15 minutes and use simple cupboard staples you may already have at home.
Made with almond flour, cheese and a little oil, they provide protein, healthy fats and calcium. They’re lovely served on their own or paired with options like hummus, or nut or seed butters topped with a little grated carrot or mashed berries.
They also store well (for up to 3 days in an airtight container) and can be frozen once baked, making them a handy recipe to batch and keep on hand for busy days.
Makes 7-10 crackers.
Ingredients
- 120g almond flour/ground almonds*
- 30g grated cheese (or plant-based cheese alternative)
- 1 tablespoon rapeseed or olive oil
- 2 to 3 tablespoons water, added gradually
*if you do not have almond flour or are avoiding it due to allergies, take a look at my other cracker recipes listed at the end.
Optional:
- ½ teaspoon dried herbs such as basil or oregano for a little extra flavour
Method
- Preheat the oven to 170°C fan.
- In a bowl, mix together the almond flour and grated cheese (and herbs if using).
- Add the oil, then a little water at a time, mixing until a soft and pliable dough forms. The dough should hold together easily but not feel sticky. If it becomes too sticky, add a little more almond flour. If it feels too dry, add a splash more water gradually.
- Lightly dust your work surface and roll the dough out to around 3–4mm thick – thinner will give a slightly crispier cracker.
- Cut into small shapes using cookie cutters (or simply slice into squares with a knife) and place on a lined baking tray..
- Bake for about 13-15 minutes, until lightly golden at the edges and just firm.
- Allow to cool completely on the tray. They will firm up further as they cool.
