These homemade 3 ingredient wraps are soft, simple and only need three ingredients, making them a great option for busy families. They work brilliantly in lunchboxes, for quick weeknight dinners like enchiladas, or simply rolled up into pinwheels with whatever fillings your little ones enjoy such as hummus and salad, tuna and sweetcorn or pesto with chicken or tofu. Making them at home means you know exactly what’s going in, with no hidden salt or sugar, and you can adapt them to your preferences by using white, wholemeal or a mix of both flours. Plus, getting children involved in rolling out the dough or choosing their own fillings can make mealtimes more fun and encourage them to try new flavours.
Ingredients (makes 4 medium wraps)
- 100g plain flour (white, wholemeal, or a mix. You can also use chickpea/gram flour for a gluten-free option)
- 1 tbsp oil (olive oil or vegetable oil)
- 90–100ml warm water
Method
- Mix. Put the flour into a bowl. Add the oil and stir in the warm water gradually until you get a soft dough. If the dough is too wet, add a little more flour; if it’s too dry, add a little more water, adjusting gradually until the dough comes together easily.
- Knead. Tip onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Rest. Cover with a clean tea towel and let the dough rest for at least 10 minutes – this makes rolling much easier.
- Divide & roll. Split into 4 balls. Roll each one out thinly into a wrap using a little sprinkle of flour to help you roll.
- Cook. Heat a dry frying pan or griddle over medium heat. Cook each wrap for about 1 minute on each side, until you see golden spots. Stack them up and cover with a tea towel to keep soft.
