Looking for an easy pizza recipe for babies and toddlers? These easy sweet potato pizzas are a fun savoury meal for little ones and the whole family, and a great way to mix things up at mealtimes and add variety. Made with roasted sweet potato as the base, they’re naturally soft in texture and ideal for babies learning to self-feed.
These mini sweet potato pizzas are simple to make and easy to adapt with ingredients you already have at home. Keep the toppings classic with tomato and cheese, or add extras like crushed beans, tinned fish or extra veggies.
They’re delicious served warm alongside veg sticks or fruit for an easy balanced meal or snack. For younger babies, you can cut the pizzas into finger-sized strips or small bite-sized pieces.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days or frozen for a future meal – ideal for busy family days. They also are a great option for lunchboxes as they taste really good cold too.
Ingredients
Makes 8-10 mini pizzas
- 1 medium sweet potato (approx. 200g), peeled and cut into 2cm chunks
- Approx. 180g self-raising flour (you can use plain or a mix of plain and wholemeal)
- Tomato purée or my ultimate tomato sauce
- Approx 40-50g grated cheddar cheese
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C fan.
- Roast the sweet potato for 30-35 minutes, or until very soft inside. Leave to cool slightly, then scoop out the flesh into a bowl.
- Add the flour and mix until you have a soft dough. If the mixture feels sticky, add a little extra flour.
- Divide the dough and shape into small pizza circles. We recommend using a 5-6cm cookie cutter to help shape them.
- Spread over the tomato sauce/ultimate tomato sauce and sprinkle with cheese, along with any extra toppings you’d like to use.
Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and cooked through.
